Here’s everything you might be wondering before starting your Spanish visa journey.
Can I apply without a university degree?
Yes — if you can prove at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
How long does the process take?
Once the complete application is submitted, the administration has 20 business days to issue a decision. If no response is given within that period, the application is automatically approved by positive silence (desestimiento positivo).
✅ That means your visa is legally granted if no resolution is issued on time.
Can I include my family in the application?
Yes, you can include your spouse and children as dependents, as long as you meet the additional income requirements.
Do I have to pay taxes in Spain?
Yes — but you may be eligible for a special tax regime under the “Beckham Law” (Régimen fiscal especial para impatriados).
If you qualify, you’ll pay a flat 24% income tax on your Spanish-source income — up to €600,000/year — for up to 6 years.
✅ This regime is simpler and more favorable than the regular tax system.
Note: You’ll need to apply for it within 6 months of registering with Spanish tax authorities.
💡 We’ll guide you through that process too, if it applies to your case.
Is the Digital Nomad Visa Renewable?
Yes. The initial residence permit is valid for 3 years, and it’s renewable for 2 more years if you continue to meet the requirements.
After 5 years of legal residence, you may apply for long-term residency in Spain.
Can I get permanent residency with this visa?
Yes. The digital nomad visa is a temporary residence permit, but if you maintain legal residence in Spain for 5 consecutive years, you can apply for permanent residency.
✅ You must have lived in Spain continuously and meet certain requirements (such as not being abroad more than 6 months per year).
